Debra Mascarenas - Owner/Designer Stylist

Debra is the owner of Rumors. Debra started her career as a student at Mr. Robert’s Beauty Academy here in Brighton. Her first job as a stylist was with Michael of the Carlyle. Four years later Debra left Michaels to open her first salon in 1988. The name of the salon was Nuance, a small two-chair salon in Brighton. Nuance grew and moved to a new larger location. Seven years later Rumors opened in 1995. However, the dream had not yet been realized. “I always dreamed of owning an old building, renovating it and moving the salon into it. I realized that dream in 2005. The building we now occupy was originally a church. The building is over one hundred years old. The renovation took over a year to complete! It’s always a work in progress. It’s been a labor of love and we all love being here in the heart of Brighton.”Debra has been doing hair for thirty years. In that time she has worn many hats, always moving toward the ultimate goal of realizing that lifelong dream. The dream to be a business owner, an accomplished stylist, a mentor and teacher. To have a business that felt more like an extended family. “I think that I have accomplished those goals. I am very proud of Rumors and thankful to the many people who have held me up through the years.”
Beverly Bartholomew - Salon Director

Bev is our general salon director, as well as Debra’s sister. At Rumors we keep our roots grounded in family. Bev has attended numerous Aveda management courses as well as Congress in the past. Bev manages the day to day at the salon. If you choose to spend your wedding or any other special event, she is here to help plan that special day for you. Never hesitate to call if there is a challenge or cheer you need to share! Besides being a wonderful leader to our team, she is also a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Dandrae Valenzuela
Salon Manager/Designer Stylist
Dandrae has been with Rumors 20 years this June as a Floor Manager and Educator. She began her career after graduating from the Michael Taylor Institute. Dandrae has also had many hours of advanced training through Aveda, which has enhanced her natural talent for creating beautiful natural looking color and beautiful cuts. “I feel I am a good listener through years of experience. I am dedicated and consistent. I am always happy to help and mentor the stylists I work with. We are a team and we hold each other up!” Dandrae is a devout wife, busy mother of three and loves to spend time with her new grandson. She is a talented artist and interior decorator, and her artistic side certainly shines through to her clients!
Nanci O'dorisio
Salon Manager/Designer Stylist
Nanci has been a stylist since 2005. As a Manager she brings a fresh perspective from the many places her career has taken her. Living on the East Coast for a year sparked new creativity and gave her a new confidence that she brings to her clients! Nanci was also a part of the education staff at the Aveda Institute Denver. She has brought her passion for teaching and cultivating the Aveda culture to Rumors and is always ready to answer any questions. Nanci specializes in color but is great for all hair care needs. Her personality is what sets her apart, and makes each visit special! You will sit in her chair a stranger and leave being best friends.
Theresa Garcia - Designer Stylist
Theresa has been a stylist for over 36 years, 23 of those years with Rumors! Her extensive experience includes hair, skin care, pedicures, and reflexology. Theresa also does beautiful color and trendy cuts and styles. “It is so rewarding to help someone feel better about themselves.” Caring, nurturing, and consistent are all words that convey who Theresa is to her guests as well as to everyone in her life. Theresa is married with four children and six grandchildren- her family means the world to her!
Kelli Smith - Master Stylist
Kelli's love for the beauty industry has always been on the forefront. She has over 20 years of experience in the industry and recently refreshed her skills at the Aveda Institute. People are her passion, and being able to make a difference in how one feels about themselves by having them sit in her chair makes her day! Kelli specializes in everything beauty, including hair cutting, color, extensions, and bridal styles. When she isn't working, Kelli enjoys hiking, cooking, yoga, and spending time with her family.
Julie - Master Stylist
Julie has been in the Rumors family from the beginning. After taking a break to help her family, we are happy to welcome her back. Her skill, friendly spirit, and bright smile are sure to make your time in the salon more than enjoyable! During her free time, you'll find Julie swimming, riding horses, and soaking up the sun in the outdoors!
Kelly C - Master Stylist
Kelly has rejoined us! She enjoys blonding, doing balayages and highlights. She has been with Aveda for 12 years. During her free time, she enjoys being with her family, watching her kids play sports, camping and traveling .
Trenity - Stylist
Trenity has been an Aveda stylist for 4 years now, graduating from the institute in 2019. She likes all things hair and is a great addition to the salon! On her off time she likes to bowl, loves animals, and hanging out! Ask her to sing you a song next time you're in her chair. :)
Nissi - Stylist
Nissi recently completed her apprenticeship, here at Rumors, and is now a new talent stylist! Her work and big, beautiful smile are sure to brighten your day. Nissi loves creating a beautiful transformation on her clients as much as she loves her fur babies! She also likes to do things like puzzles, painting, singing, and playing musical instruments in her spare time.
Megan - Stylist
Megan graduated from the Aveda Institute of Cosmetology in 2022. She is a product knowledge queen and can answer any of you questions about Aveda! She enjoys doing fun and crazy colors and is always up for a challange! She is a motivated individual with a passion for learning. She spends some of her time being a caretaker when she isn't with family and her fur babies!
Amanda - Stylist
Amanda is simply a joy to have around the salon! She is always bringing a smile to anyone who comes her way. She enjoys chasing around her 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. She loves doing anything outdoorsy and prides herself on being a true Coloradan.
Camryn - Stylist
Camryn is the newest member of our team but we cannot imagine Rumors without her! She is quirky, fun, and always up for a challenge.
Dariti - Esthetician
Dariti has been part of the Rumors family for many years! Growing up helping around the salon influenced her to follow in her Mom's footsteps and get her cosmetology license over 10 years ago. After moving out of state and taking a break to stay home with her babies, she is back at Rumors doing eyelash extensions, waxing and all things spa. Dariti is always willing to help and adds a fun element to the salon with her genuine, caring, and hilarious personality!
Laurie - Guest Relations Supervisor
Laurie has been a Rumors client for over 20 years and is now part of the team! After leaving her work in the health industry she decided the salon atmosphere, friendly staff, and her love of Aveda were the perfect reasons to join our family! When Laurie isn't working she enjoys home decorating, checking out paint and sip galleries, and spending time with her grandchildren.
